Floyd Town Clerk retires after 33 years of dedicated service
Georgianna Larry, Town Clerk for the Town of Floyd, has retired after 33 years of dedicated service effective on February 11, 2024.
After dedicating her service for over three decades, Georgianna Larry decided it was time for her to retire and spend more time at home with her family.
On February 11, 1991 Georgie walked into the Town Office and had to quickly learn how to do many tasks. Georgie took on many duties as the Town Clerk including Registrar of Vital Statistics, where she completed birth, marriage, and death certificates. She prepared warrants, attended board meetings, and recorded minutes for these meetings. Georgie also completed dog licenses, sold hunting and fishing licenses, and could give assistance or direction on almost anything anyone asked her. She was very knowledgeable and considers herself very lucky to have been able to serve the citizens of the Town of Floyd for as long as she did.
Georgie was presented with a plaque in appreciation for 33 plus years of dedication to the Town of Floyd and its citizens. She was also surprised with a little celebration where she was joined by her family, and past and present employees of the town who she said “have become like family to her.”
The Town of Floyd thanks Georgianna for all that she did in her 33 years of dedicated service and wishes her the best in retirement. The town would also like to welcome Tracy Sexton, who has taken over the position of Town Clerk.
